Finish Options
Breedlove instruments are renowned for many reasons, but one is definitely the quality of our instrument finishes. We are often asked by other manufacturers to divulge our "secret", but the truth is that there is no secret, and there are no shortcuts. Our finish process is time-consuming and labor-intensive, but we have found no other way to achieve a perfectly smooth, mirrored high gloss finish that is as protective as it is beautiful.
Natural Finishes - Gloss, Semi-Gloss and Satin
To let the natural beauty of your favorite tonewoods shine through, choose a natural finish. Most of our Custom Shop clients opt for high-gloss, but you may also select a Semi-Gloss or Full Satin finish if you prefer. A natural finish is transparent and unpigmented.
Tonered Finish
To achieve a darker, more aged look,consider an application of Aged Toner. This can be applied to any light-colored tonewood - while most commonly applied to Spruce tops, Aged Toner also looks great on lightly colored hardwoods such as Maple.

Breedlove Sunburst Finish
Our finish department produces jaw-dropping sunbursts. You can have a sunburst finished applied to a whole instrument, or just the top.

Solid Gloss and Opaque Finishes
